Any suggestions for a car mount that would fit an X5 in a zCover case? Preferably one that grips it by the sides or has a hole in the bottom for the subpack and line-out to go thru? Or perhaps an ipod mount could be modified to work with the X5 since the dimensions are similar?

Man, this offer (your link) is a rip off!
I bought the absolutely same car-holder in Europe for 16 €uros at my local car-accessory-store! And prices in Europe are known to be higher than US-prices! This universal holder works very fine and has excellent built-quality! It's made in germany (german patent) as far as I know. The only bad thing, that it's arms tend to press the X5-side-buttons. But this can be solved by cutting the foam in the area where the holder touches the buttons. Last edited by NoComp; 11-09-2005 at 19:30.. |

subpack reinforcement?
I have had to buy a new subpack for my X5 because the one that came with it kept bending at the flimsy metal plug-- i love the x5, but the subpack really is a drawback in terms of design. having to have the subpack connected when using the audio line out (such as when in the car) is an incredible pain in the arse...
having said that, does anyone know of any cases and/or car cradles that might have some sort of reinforcement for the subpack so that if it happens to get bumped when connected to the x5, it won't bend the plug and potentially harm the port on the x5? any ideas would be appreciated. thanks! |

pricey, yes, but that is EXACTLY what i am looking for. thanks for the link, guys. to me, it's worth the $80 to save my sanity of having the damn subpack always fall out of the x5 while i'm driving, causing the music to stop. i'm going to order one of these asap.

Doesn't look like that bad boy will hold an X5L though. Anybody tried?

I just recently got in a car wreck so my car is totalled. I had a x5 mount in there, I forgot about it. I would love to take it out and give it to you. I have the other few mount type and even the manual..... umm I'd have to check on it again. If your interested send me an email and I'll find out the details.

The nice thing about the one I gave a link to is that it has a built-in subpack.

Is it a subpack? The first time it came up here, there was some question as to whether it was just a pass-through to a subpack.

the proclip mount is molded so it will hold a subpack in place for you, it does not have a built in subpack or a passthrough as far as I can tell

I bought the Bracketron one from best buy for about $10 usd. Clips right into my vents and supports the X5L perfectly. No problem getting to buttons and you can even clip the suppack on it. Sorry no link for it though.
