Recording range of iAudio 4?

Hi,

I've an iAudio 4 (firmware 1.60) and I used the voice recorder feature to record some music from a church service. I noticed when playing it back that the unit seems to cut off the higher frequencies, so the sound is very flat. Would this be a result of the mp3 compression? I'm wondering if I used the 'ogg' firmware whether the recording range would be better with .wav recording. Or might it simply be the built-in mic?
