Quick Instructions
Installation I General II Desktop Editor II.1 Putting icons and widgets on the desktop II.2 Folders III Other Information III.1 How to install: Custom Icons III.2 How to install: PlugIns III.3 How to install: Widgets III.4 How to configure: Slideshow Widget III.5 How to configure: Wallpaper Changer PlugIn -------------- Installation Download Lynx and extract the archive to 'System/Flash UI/'. Then rename the file 'mainmenuN.swf' to either 'mainmenu1.swf', 'mainmenu2.swf' or 'mainmenu3.swf', depending on which of the three available mainmenu you want to replace. Note: If your computer doesn't show file extensions, then don't add '.swf' to the filename. It is already there, it's just hidden. I General When you use Lynx the first time, you'll see a screen like this: ![]() 1. Sysbar Shows general information and information about the system's state (time, battery, volume,...) 2. Desktop Workspace where you can place icons and widgets. 3. Menubar Provides access to most important features. Buttons from left to right: - Opens the menu - Opens the icons & widgets selector - Expands the menubar In expanded state, the menubar looks like that: ![]() From left to right: - Shutdown - Change Mainmenu - Show Notifications You can swipe to change the menubar's content. ![]() Depending on the current mode (radio or music), the menubar either shows buttons to control the music playback or it shows buttons to control the radio. This is the aforementioned icons & widgets selector. The buttons in 4 from left to right: - Shows standard icons - Shows custom icons - Shows widgets And in 5: - Go to previous page - Close icons & widgets selector - Go to next page You can use the page navigation buttons only if there are multiple pages available. The scrollbar over this bar is shown if this is the case. You can execute any icon by tapping one, which means there is no need to add all icons to the desktop. II Desktop Editor II.1 Putting icons and widgets on the desktop If you want to add an icon or widget to the desktop, just press and hold it until the selector disappears and you can drag the icon or widget around. ![]() As long as you drag the icon or widget around, the editor looks like this. The white rectangle is the grid. More about that after the next screenshot. You can drop the icon over one of the arrows to move it to the next or previous desktop. In order to delete it, just drop it over the X. ![]() This is how the editor looks like when you don't drag an icon or widget. Buttons from left to right: - Close editor - Open icons & widgets selector - Configure grid and icon selector (screenshot) ![]() Widgets often have multiple themes. If this is the case, there's button with two arrows shown over the widget. You can drag the widget by grabbing the button's center and you can change the theme by pressing one of the arrows. II.2 Folders ![]() In order to create a folder, just drop an icon over another one, and in order to add an icon to a folder, just drop the icon over a folder. The icon selector, colored in green, will appear if you are about to perform one of these two actions. (Note: The term "icon" here stands for standard icons and custom icons) ![]() You can arrange icons within a folder by pressing one until you can drag it. Make sure not to drag it out of the folder, otherwise the folder will be closed. Of course it is also possible to rename a folder: ![]() Just press the title and a keyboard is shown where you can edit the title. III Other Information III.1 How to install: Custom Icons Put icons (PNG files) in 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/Custom Icons/'. Every icon must be there twice: One with and one without label. The naming is: 'icon name.png' and 'icon name__l.png'. 'icon name' is a unique identifier of the custom icon. Open the file 'custom icons.xml' in 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/' with a text editor. Your file may look like this: ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <icons> <icon name="Event Manager" type="Launcher" file="lynx_eventmanager.swf" /> </icons> ----- For every icon you have create an entry in <icons>...</icons>. If you want to replace an existing standard icon: ----- <icon name="name" replace="icon id" /> ----- Name: A unique name for the custom icon Icon ID: One of these: music, videos, pictures, browser, radio, record, documents, flash, typist, notepad, hunter, settings, dictionary, dmb, calculator, stopwatch, comix If you want to add a new icon: ----- <icon name="name" type="type" file="file" /> ----- Name: A unique name for the custom icon Type: 'Launcher' or 'Flash' File: Filename of the file the icon opens. If the type is 'Launcher', the file must be in 'System/Flash UI/', otherwise it has to be put into 'Flash/'. III.2 How to install: PlugIns Usually, just extract the contents of the archive into 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/PlugIns'. Then, open the file 'plugins.xml' in 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/' which may look like this: ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <plugins> <plugin file="wallpaper_changer.swf" /> </plugins> ----- Just add a new line between <plugins>...</plugins> and insert ----- <plugin file="filename.swf" /> ----- where filename.swf is the filename of the plugin. III.3 How to install: Widgets Usually, just extract the contents of the archive into 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/Widgets'. Then, open the file 'widgets.xml' in 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/' which may look like this: ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <widgets> </widgets> ----- Just add a new line between <widgets>...</widgets> and insert ----- <widget id="id" /> ----- where id is the name of the widget (usually the name of the folder in the archive). III.4 How to configure: Slideshow Widget In order to create a custom slideshow, you have to create a folder in 'Pictures/' add first. The name doesn't matter since you can specify it in the settings. Then create two subfolders: '150x110' and '210x150'. Put pictures in both folders. The first one is displayed when you use the small slideshow plugin, and the other folder is displayed when you use the large slideshow widget. The name of the folders is the recommended size of the pictures you put into them. When you're done putting pictures in both folders, create the file 'pictures.xml' in both folders using a text editor like Notepad. ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <pictures> </pictures> ----- Create for every picture an entry between <pictures>...</pictures>: ----- <picture file="filename" /> ----- Filename: The name of the picture. Your XML file may eventually look like this: ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <pictures> <picture file="49f4c7342-b695-4b6a-8c3f-8481269e78c01.jpg" /> <picture file="04615.jpg" /> <picture file="04627.jpg" /> <picture file="fgd4r346.jpg" /> <picture file="Find_your_way_1280 x 960.jpg" /> <picture file="Nature (24).jpg" /> <picture file="One_Way_iPhone.jpg" /> <picture file="steps_by_damnengine.jpg" /> </pictures> ----- Now open 'Lynx' settings -> Widget Settings -> Slideshow Widget' and activate the option 'Use Slideshow Folder'. Then press 'Set Slideshow Folder Name' and change the registered folder name to the name of the folder you just created. You don't have to include 'Pictures/'. III.5 How to configure: Wallpaper Changer PlugIn Wallpapers have to be put into 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/PlugIns/res__wallpaper_changer.swf/' and can be JPG or PNG files. Open XML file 'wallpapers.xml' in 'System/Flash UI/Lynx/PlugIns/res__wallpaper_changer.swf/' and add between <wallpapers>...</wallpapers> for each wallpaper the following line: ----- <wallpaper file="filename" /> ----- In order to assign a wallpaper to a certain desktop, just add the attribute 'desktop="N"' to the wallpaper's entry you want to assign to a certain desktop. N is the number of the desktop. Please note that this only works if the Wallpaper Changer Mode is configured to change the wallpaper when you go to another desktop. Example file: ----- <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <wallpapers> <wallpaper file="download.jpg" desktop="3" /> <wallpaper file="fgd4r346.jpg" /> <wallpaper file="Find_your_way_1280 x 960.jpg" desktop="1" /> </wallpapers> -----

Kizune,
Not sure if this is suppose to be doing it this way (or maybe it is), but: If you lock the screen (or don't) and hold down the power button to put it in sleep mode, then hold the power button to bring it out of sleep mode, it comes up in the Music UI. Or if you let it sit (had mine for 10 mins) and allow it to go into sleep mode by itself, then bring it out of sleep mode, it still comes up in the Music UI (and once in the Video UI even though since adding Lynx I haven't used it at all). Is it suppose to be like that, or ..? Sorry, I'm a bit nit-picky about the littlest things. :\ Other than that, another amazing UCI. I'm enjoying every bit of it. |

I think i'm doing something wrong here.
I put a widget and a few icons on the first page, and a bunch of icons on the second. I pushed the X on the bottom left corner, everything's working fine at this point. But then i swipe to go to page two: Nothing. Swipe back to page one, still nothing. I open the icon and widget selector, select music, from music i push menu and... All my icons and widgets are back where they were. The swiping problem remains. Am i doing something wrong?
