1) radio on
2) switch player to hold (push 2 times on power button)
3) push mute button(play/pause on music mode) => no effect. Sound still on.

1) radio on
2) DONT switch to hold
3) push mute button. ALL work fine. Sound off.

- I've noticed less lagging in the “matrix browser” (not that I use it...)
- The lrc feature works like crap.

And, I have finally subscribed to their site and posted questions about:
1-Replay Gain
2-Playlists
3-Audio-out
I'm assuming that they didin't “quit feature upgrades for this product” just yet. At least I'm expecting. People should request this things before they downgrade J3 to some “legacy” hole.

J3 isn't their golden child any more. They've moved on.

I suspect what we've got now on the J3 is as good as it's going to get.

I noticed a new problem : the year tag : it doesn't show years after 1992. So I downgraded back to the 2.23

Indeed... there does seem to be an issue with [Years].

But mine doesn't go past 1988. However that represents 40 individual years.

How many individual year items are in your situation through 1992? 40? More? Less?

Somebody else said theirs only went through 2007. So it seems more like some max (maybe 40 individual year buckets), rather than a specific year itself.

Actually, I just ran an experiment and it looks like 40 is the limit. I had 4 tracks (on an old Milt Jackson jazz album) from 1948. These are the only tracks I have which are dated 1948.

I deleted just those 4 tracks from that album (the other tracks are from 1952), and re-booted the J3.

Well now it goes up to 1989. So there are no 1948 tracks, which "frees up" one more year at the other end ... hence my [Years] now goes up to 1989.

===>> Looks like there is a limit of 40 years in this [Years] browse, at least with 2.25.

Just backed off to 2.23, and there is no maximum on the number of years. Goes from 1948 (I restored those four files) all the way through 2011.

I will report this problem to Cowon on their web site.

Others should do this as well, and it will likely be corrected by them sooner.

I'm just going to stick with 2.23 for now. I don't use Lyrics, so there's no huge reason for me to not stay with 2.23.

Not sure if this is a bug, put I used the the alarm feature for the very first time today. It went off when it was supposed to. So I reset the alarm to go off a few hours later, but it didn't.

Don't forget...

If you have a problem that should be reported to Cowon, then actually do submit a problem report to Cowon.

Go to the Cowonglobal web site, click on Support, click on Q&A, click on "List of questions" to see your outstanding tickets to them along with their replies (the user interface is a bit crude, but it is just barely minimally acceptable).

You have to register first, but this is the way to communicate with them directly. They will almost certainly respond (though not right away), but it may look like boilerplate. However for real problems, they actually DO read these reports and actually DO fix them eventually in newly available firmware releases.

Click on "write" to create a new ticket.
