ByTheWay: I saw that the bootloader did change with r27007. If USB is detected the bootloader switches directly to original firmware. This is untested but would be very nice. I always forgot to switch to HOLD...
Wow! r27004 looks interesting also. Touchregion support for the Base Skin and FM Skins.

Looks like it's time to update again.

Hi mp3,

don't like the nice girls I took? :-)
But yes I understand that everybody would like to have his own best liked album arts in the WPS.
Maybe we have to ask all other guys around here?
Let's wait a couple of weeks and the best 5 could be taken for a run-off.
Otherwise I have to change my theme every week - I hope you'll understand this, mp3.

So: come on, Guys, which album art would you prefer for the main screen of this theme?
Would you like Gloria Estefan and Rihanna to be dropped and which new ones would you prefer?

Ya, you're right, bkd: really interesting - especially because it's no big thing to implement for the theme editors.
I'm currently testing this with the base skin of AF_Flow. The RWD and FWD buttons change their function to move one up/down and the menu button will be one menu level up. Long press menu is root level now.
Works like a charm.

FMScreen is done now: no more need for 3x3 grid mode on this. The RWD and FWD buttons will transform to scan backward/forward.

And: absolute point mode is working perfectly on the While Playing Screen as well - clicking on the actual album leads you to the pictureflow plugin.

It's time to looking forward to the new version but I still have some changes to do...

^^ Sounds awesome, I can't wait. In the meantime, I'm going to experiment with some other themes using the code you posted above.

Btw, I also can confirm that it works great with both touchscreen modes now with r27060.

Default Version V2.0 is up

Hi.

There were some modifications with the touchscreen areas done by the rockbox crew and some of them bring us new features for the themes.

1. Bugfixing
The absolute point mode is working perfectly again. So no need to use 3x3 grid mode instead. And the hotkey area (which is in my WPS the actual album art in the middle) works now again.

2. New touchscreen area actions and screen related buttons
It's now possible to define buttons related to the actual screen. And we got a few new actions for the touchscreen areas.
So if you take my theme you'll see different buttons on the different screens:
On WPS you have VolumeDown, VolumeUp, RWD, Play, FWD and Settings.
On Menu Screen you have Quickscreen, LineUp, Select, LineDown and Cancel.
On FM Screen you got VolumeDown, VolumeUp, Scan backwards, Scan forwards and Cancel.
I think this is a great improvement to the absolute point mode. I guess now it's the time for some more users to switch from 3x3 grid mode to absolute point mode, isn't it?

3. Faked albums on While Playing Screen
I was asked to change the faked albums on the WPS to some classical ones. I decided to change but I decided to use Faith No More's Angel Dust and Chris Rea's Road To Hell And Back because they fit with the colours of AF_Flow.
I changed my background and reduced it to a screenshot of pictureflow plus two grey lines for the bars. So it will get much more easier to change the background if there will be the need to change it again. I repeat the question of a previous post: if you would like to have a different background then post it here, we'll see what the majority will be.

Download Link in post #1.

Please test the new version and post some feedback.
Thank you.

These recent developments are incredible! Kudos to AsusFreak and the Rockbox team. This theme makes menu navigation much more bearable, and the WPS -> PictureFlow transition looks very nice. Are you updating any of your older themes, or focusing on this one?

Hi ginsu,
thanks for your reply.

Yes, indead I am currently working on AF_Black trying to provide the new buttons and the jump-to-pictureflow feature.

Which is the theme you are thinking of?

Just a silly question.
I've made a custom backdrop for the theme, and one for the wps, but the theme .cfg doesn't seem to pick up the theme backdrop, but loads the wps one. Only thing I have done is to change the backdrop and renamed it as the old one.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Hi mp3,

I'm happy you're trying to adapt it by yourself.
Go to the AF_Flow directory. In there you'll find an image called bg.bmp. This is the background image being loaded within the WPS. Change it to yours and it should work.
The backdrop image is used for all other screens. So I'll guess you have to change both. So replacing the files should work. Otherwise try to attach it here and I'll do it for you.

Hi,

Sorry, I wasn't clear in saying what the problem is.
The wps bg.bmp loads on all screens, not just on the wps, while the theme backdrop AF_Flow.bmp does not load at all.
I have two different pictures for them, the wps one has a "no album art" logo, while the theme one does not, as it interferes with the menu.

Then I would use the one without middle album and would adapt the WPS file like this

Code:
# preload images
%X(bg.bmp)
%xl(B,shuffle.bmp,0,0)
...
%xl(g,middleart.bmp,0,0)

...

#Album Art
%V(96,32,128,128,0)%Vf(000000)%Vb(000000)
%T(0,0,172,172,hotkey)
%?C<%Cd|%xd(g)>
middleart.bmp has to be a 128x128 image (with your questionmark).

This should work. If album art is present album art will be shown. If it's not your questionmark is shown. And it won't have a problem with the menus.

Edit: Just tested this with the simulator - worked for me.

Perfekt, danke

I use 103x103 album art, to better fit in with the 80% zoom on pictureflow.

Glückwunsch - Congratulation.
Now you got independent placeholders. Personally I prefer some real album arts but it depends on each's personal preferences.

At rockbox forum a guy called St. answered that maybe it could be possible to combine the static images on the WPS with a conditional. This could bring us one step further. Maybe you want to join the discussion there as well?

I'm keeping a close eye on the RB forums, and I agree with the discussion so far, to have the static images change on a conditional would be a big step already.
Unfortunately I'm a total novice when it comes to this stuff, so can't help in any way, but I'm slowly beginning to learn.

I love AF_Black so much more with seamless PictureFlow integration.
Thankyou for adding the hotkey, and for that theme rocking.
Maybe one day we'll get some more advanced integration which allows for real next and previous album art images to be displayed on the WPS, but till then I'll stay away from themes like AF_Flow which at the end of the day fake it.
thanks again.
