I think it is a miss. The issue of not having SDHC card reader (if you have previously owned the D2) lowers the score. This is my opinion as a FLAC user. SD drains battery life, but hell ~45 hours of music is still great!
The key to my vote is: Once you can add as much music as you want (4000 song limit per each SD card, and you can have more than one getting cheaper, plus they are easy to carry), you want to keep using that. If they release a D3 with SDXC support (cards around 1 or 2Tb), that also supports SDHC cards, and they keep the SQ line, it is a winner. If it has AMOLED (& WIFI as another app -not imprescidible) THAT would be a hit Anyways I still think the S9 is a great player! The ones who have it, enjoy it!

If you are a FLAC user there is no way you are going to get even close to 8,000 files limit on a 16GB D2 with a 32GB SDHC Card. My 3,130 FLAC files (approximately 230 Albums) use 61.6GB of disk storage... That is why I use OGG files (13.8GB)...They all fit... I will just have to manage my music and video's better and hope the S9 does not have the Database problems encountered on the D2... EDIT: @Bullseye, I was not slamming you. I have already been down that road. Read this post: Got One & IMHO, it is not worth the money.

Well Mr Dalmane98
Following your reason: 3130 FLAC files ~62Gb Maximum file limit = 4000 internal and external, respectively (lets see what gives the latest FW update -if there is really gonna come) That doesn't matter for this line of thought, though. 2x 32Gb sdhc = 64GB ![]() Just wait till prices drop and very affordable (way less than buying 2 S9) ·With 2x 32Gb SDHC (Class 6) ~240$ + Cowon D2 4Gb ~150$ = 390$ NOW (when 32Gb sdhc price drops, less money) You can have your FLAC collection without using internal memory --->3130/3130 song in total EDIT2: Buying 4x16Gb (class 6 trasncend) ~134$ + Cowon d2 4Gb =284$ (less than the 16Gb S9, atm) ·Actual price of Cowon S9 16Gb: 305$ ---> 783/3130 files ·Price of 32Gb S9? I suppose around 350$ (or more or less) --->1565/3130 files On the S9 there is no possible way you can have all that music You might upgrade your PMP when a newer one comes to the market, but I plan to have the D2 till it dies (6 years as my last HDD player? -less, more?-) Having SDHC support will allow me to expand my music collection, keeping it on high quality, and being able to play it with the same player. I hope this gives you an idea of how I think ![]() Mr Dalmane98. Have a nice day (and if you have S9 enjoy it too)EDIT: got prices from amazon.com & amp3.co.uk

As an Owner of a S9...
I almost chose Miss. unlike all the Other cowons, they had a Great chance to make the s9 their first player with incredible UI. However they've left it to us to make it. I'm just glad they left it to us at least.

Overall a hit, the player has it's fair share of problems but taken into consideration I think it's easily one of the best touch screen players around. It's missing a few features that people associate with Cowon (SDHC slot) but overall I can live without it, as I only ever had a 4GB D2 + 8GB card and it was a pain loading anything onto it as it would take an age - and being the sort of person that loses things the idea of carrying around more SDHC cards wasn't to my taste.

If and when the 32 GB version comes out...then it's a hit!
Actually, the 16 GB is a hit with my wife. She loves it. Awesome display and sound capablities from a small, light package. |

I think the S9 is a great little player for playing music, but it seems too much like a touch-wannabe for me to say it's a huge hit. It looks a lot better than most previous Cowon's, granted, but I think with the next one they need to focus more on making a great music player than a touch killer, because atm quite a few things seem like cheap ipod touch ripoffs (eg boggy coverflow imitation, i don't use it, but it's irritating considering the S9 is faster than the touch to begin with)

Hit! The only thing it does lack is a SDHC slot BUT I do not need 16 Gb+ in ogg's on the go. If I must listen to something it will be on the s9 and I can always delete some albums. So it is a minor issue.
