Thumb Up How to "unfreeze" D2 8GB BK due to large or corrupted file (.ogg)

My case is the following and I hope many will find useful help in this:

hardware: d2 8GB black + 32GB SDHC, fw 2.59, running Vista 32 bit.

After uploading some new music in .ogg format (albums, encoded with q5, one file per album, largest file 56mb) to the internal memory, my D2 got stuck during start-up with the message: "scanning D2".

After a million resets nothing happened. So I fired up Google. It seems that it can be either corrupted .ogg file (something to do with the tags), or the file size is too big - it happened only after I uploaded a batch of over 50MB files, all previous were less than 50MB), or...some forcee majeure

I found the solution with the tcctool on this forum site. I followed all steps for folders 0, 1, 2, and luckily it all worked pretty well. But you have to follow through - three or four restarts. Now, my music is gone, but the D2 is functional again (still charging, because I left the device on for over 20 hours, hoping that it will finish it "scanning" job). My music will be in mp3, lame 3.98r, this time - lesser number of tracks, but hopefully lesser chance of corruption.

My thanks to the person who wrote this tool and to all who posted on this forum, so that google could pick it up!

Cheers,
