Default Flash dictionary !

Some screens : (version 0.7, some changes in 0.8)

How does it work:
You will first need to download dictionaries from this website (choose stardict as download format)
If you got encoding problems, try to cconvert the dict file with this webpage : http://www.fileformat.info/convert/text/utf2utf.htm
For one dictionary you have :
  • -an ifo file, needed
  • -an idx file, not needed
  • -a dict.dz file, that you will need to decompress to get a dict file (7z does it)

Now that you have your ifo and dict files, you have to run builder.exe (put the 2 files in the builder.exe folder).

How newBuilder.exe works:
  • First of all, right click ont he window and select "parameters". I should then enable flash to use as much memory as he wants
  • First you have to get builder.exe and the fscommand directory to be in the same folder as the .ifo and the .dict files, then run builder.exe.
  • The first thing to do is to type the name of the dict file and click on "load", this should display infrmations about the dic
  • Then click on the "build all" button (just the next one), it should run a command line program.
(If this programme doesn't launch, go to the fscommand directory and launch buildall.exe manualy (if the program doesnt work for some, you need some dll required by python, i'll write about that later)
  • In buildall.exe, type the name of the ..dict file, the program displays informations and some parts of the dicts, and should say at the end that the task was done, and ask to press a touch.
  • If everything went well, 2 files should have been created in the working folder, "index" and "htmldic".
then go back to builder.exe and press the 2nd load button, this will load the 2 created files in the memory.
  • If you want multiple dics (up to 4 for now), you will have to specify the dic number in the appropriate input. Dic nums must begin by 0 and follow each other (ie dic0 , dic2 will only dicplay dic0 )
  • Finally, press "build .sol files", and wait for the task to finish !

Then you have to go and find the built sol file, eg in my computer they are in
C:\Documents and Settings\bloup\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\J7E4QLNZ\localhost\Documents \S9\dico\code flash\newBuilder.swf

Once you have built your sol files, put them in the FlashUI/SOL folder of your S9

Put dictionary.swf and dictionary folder in the Flash folder of your S9, and run dictionary.swf

The files can be found HERE, files here are the last version.

builder.exe updated with version 0.8
Dic generated for version 0.7 will work if you rename them by adding "dic*-" before each sol file name.

This is my first flash app, so comments about the coding are welcome.

What is still to be done:
  • finish and improve UI
  • maybe improve speed, but it is quite good now
  • limit bugs
  • menu with options
Update : version 0.85 out
  • corrected the search function, there shouldn't be any more incorrect "not found word" returned
  • possibility to use as many dics as you want
  • chenged the interface a bit

***Older versions***
Update : version 0.8.02 out
  • added multiple dic support (up to 4, more later)
  • exact match search
  • in-app menu so you can go back to any function
  • fast browse in list
  • /!\ last version of builder.exe needed
  • bug corrected in the search function

Update : version 0.7 out
  • added accentuated letter support
  • improved speed
  • /!\ last version of builder.exe needed
I splitted the index file, so your now dealing with about 40 sol files for one dic....

Update: version 0.65 (debugged 0.6) out:]
  • finished first UI and dictionary is working
  • improved research
DOWNLOAD
(right-click, save as...)

Compiled dictionaries list : /!\ will not work with 0.7 and further)

You don't have to install stardict. I realized that it's somewhat hard to find dic in the stardict wevbsite....
Here is a list of dict : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/stardict
On this webpage it's said that you can convert Babylon dictionaries into stardict dictionaries with stardict-editor, so maybe you can install stardict to have this.
Here are babylon dicts : http://www.babylon.com/gloss/glossaries.php

I added on the server ifoFiles.7z whiche contains index, info and the first part of a french dic so you can test the app, search words begining by A or it wouldn't work....
