Usually, we poo-poo any new memory card format what with the plethora of options available today. But when a new itty bitty card is announced with a \
STOP RIGHT THERE. I've read this exact same thing before, only with SDHC years ago... the times are changing. Screw this crap, we will go bigger in another 2 years. |

This is an interesting article about the SDXC and possibly being able to be used in older SDHC compatible devices:

OK Toshiba just announced a 64GB SDXC card and if you look at the specs, everything is the same as their announce 32 and 16 GB SDHC cards except the 64GB SDXC card is formatted as exFAT. Take a look. Does anyone think that it can be reformatted to FAT32 and used?

considering corrent trends, expect the 64GB card to be in the $200-$250 range,
and also, dont expect Cowon to update the card reader, were allready seeing quite a delay with gapless after it was applied to the S9, i suspect that cowon isnt too interested in giving the D2 a longer lease on life, |

The D2 will live as long as you are using it, it'll be hitting it's 3rd birthday soon and already has gotten WAY more support than any other company would have offered to an 8mth+ old player.

I don't think you are understanding what I'm saying. According to the Toshiba specs the only difference between their SDXC and their SDHC cards are the file format. The SDXC card is exFAT, everything else is the same so voltages, controller, blah blah blah. So electrically the card should work.
I'm just wondering if the card could be reformatted as FAT32 and if there was anyone out there that might know if that is possible or if that would brick the card. |

Well I already do that! (actually APE C2000 which squeezes a few extra percent and is still compatible with my Cowons)
I have 32 gig internal and a 32 gig SDHC and 4 16 gig SDHCs which holds a lot of lossless. ![]() I also put even more in ALAC format on my wife's iTouch (yeah yah... ) |

Btw anyone know if the new Sandisk 64G SDHC works with Cowon players? It's SDHC not SDXC but it violates the spec a little to achieve that, like how early 4G cards were plain SD.
I don't want to spend $300 to test tho... |

On Sandisk's website all I see is their 64GB SDXC card for the low price of $349.
I have been trying to find more information about SDXC and the possibility of reformatting the card to FAT32 and according th wikipedia this may be possible but I'm not dropping $349 to find out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#SDXC |

Just because someone says that in a FAQ doesn't mean it's true. From what I've read electrically SDHC and SDXC are the same. I'd rather like to hear from someone outside of the SD Card Association that has one and actually has tried to make it work. Someone will try and make it work.
