A system file must have been deleted or changed. Save all of your files then upgrade the firmware.
You can download the firmware here: http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/cowon_a2_jsfw.html |

Hi Doniago,
So I'm guessing you locked my thread before you finished reading it. As I said I already tried installing the new firmware which is what the sticky wants us to do. It didn't do anything because Im still getting the red X. Couldn't figure out how to PM you so I had to make a new thread. So the problem is A really important computer died yestoday so I had to put Hiren's on my A2 to bring that computer back. The process included writing an MBR Whole Disk to the A2. After the computer was fixed I reformatted the A2 to FAT32 and tried to start it, but now after the blue loading screen I get the red X and the Cowon image. Then I tried installing firmware 1.91 to hopefully bring it back but it's still the same, blue loading screen, red x. I guess I messed up something in the boot sector? What can I do now? Thanks |

The reason this got locked is because there's no reason for a new thread discussing the red X when there's already a topic discussing it. I'm merging this with the existing thread.

I didn't think people would look through this thread to give answers but rather to find solutions, as I've tried to do. Unfortunately a solution is not offered for all the different types of Red X that could occur, such as mine. Putting it into one thread would only close off the possibilities for discussion and input by various members. Who dares to crowd a sticky thread? If you insist on doing this...well you are the admin.
