Default Doesn't recognise flac?

I've rip all my cd collection to flac (1.1.4 level 8 44.1khz), transfered it to my iaudio7 (ver 1.17), but none of them will appear when I browse my music on the device. Reading on the forum, I've tried removing tags, etc. but nothing seems to work. Is anyone having the same problem?

Try file mode rather than music mode. Music mode is broken for .ogg, which probably means it is broken for .flac too.

Try a level of compression lower than 8, and/or a version of .flac earlier than 1.1.4 .. try to figue out which of those is causing the problem. I thought 1.1.4 was supported by latest fw, but I do vaguely recall there are limits on compression level.

Download the latest flac-1.2.1 and reconvert your files
I never had problems with this version, and all my files have level 8

Excited

Hello man.

I had the VERY same problem. The support team here changed my unit and argumented that there was a problem in 1 unit of 100.

Ok, i arrived home and tried to put my flac files on my PC. But there was the problem again.

When i was about to cry, i tried to put the very same files through another computer here in my home.

Impressive or not, it WORKED.

My personal system has a WIN XP SP3, in a Nvidia chipset Motherboard, with SATAII Hard disk drives, and AMD processor.

The computer where it worked is a WIN XP SP3. Via Chipset motherboard, IDE HDD, and Intel Processor.

Check for that. if the problem is "solved" for you as for me, let's gather the especifications and tell cowon to solve this... how to say, Stupid problem?

hope this works for you.

Kind regards!

I have never encounered this problem with any FLAC version, High compression or not.
Now is it possible you may have some application that converts or changes FLAC files on the fly as you copy them onto your device? Similar to what Active Sync does to many files when you copy them to a PocketPC? Some kind of antivirus program?

Another idea for troubleshooting: the basic difference between mp3 and flac file is its length - flac file can be 3-5 times longer than its mp3 counterpart. Maybe you have some problems with long file transfers? Try to find and copy a really long mp3 file to check if it will display in your device browser.

And the final test. You know WindowsXP can hide file extensions for known file types (so it basically shows "test.txt.doc" as simply "test.txt"). Can it be possible your encoding script or utility attaches wrong (or double) file extension to your FLAC files? Please, disable this Windows option (in Folder settings) and check what the real extension of your flac files is.

On the not-so-serious note: haha, I always knew I should stick to the Intel CPUs!!!

Pah! I have an (now almost ancient) AMD CPU and no problems with flac (level 8) on the i7 and the latests firmware. :-)
But I do use the flac frontend.

Hi,
I have the same problem with my Iaudio7 :
I've put flac files on it from the laptop of a friend (without JetAudio installed) and it worked.
Then I installed the last Firmware (1.18, i had 1.16) and just moved the files to another folder in the Iaudio, from my PC (MSI K8MM Motherboard, AMD CPU, with JetAudio Installed) and it shows "no music files" now...

Edit : I tried to back on the 1.17 version of the firmware, and it still doesn't work. My brother has the same problem on his Iaudio7 (on another computer) and it seems to be the same for the S9 : http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29250

This is most strange issue. Can you see flac files if you just browse your i7 via Windows Explorer? If yes, then try to double-click one of them to start playback via your PC player. If it's also work then... meh... I am out of ideas...

Yes, i can see and read it with VLC (by a double-click on it in the I7 folder).

Here's the information of a file :
Flac - Stereo - 44100Hz - 559Kbps
