Neither Cowon Q5 or iAudio Q5 is listed when you try to purchase the product

I've posted on their forum. Wait & see...

Anyone know if it actually works on the Q5W? Has anyone given this a try? It looks very promising; but, I don't want to waste any money...

Clearview Infinity has the same CPU/OS and it can run CorePlayer.

I am thinking of buying this software too.

I'm not sure about the extent of their Youtube support. Someone will have to step up to the plate and be the guinea pig.

"Note that the YouTube feature currently doesn't work with proxy configurations in the connection settings. You need a direct internet connection, with an unique IP address for your device."

"We do not support FLV videos. Flash video is proprietary to Adobe Systems. We are however hopeful on the possibility of adding it in the future."

From whatever little I saw... looks like a paid third party app that runs on top of the WinCE OS in Cowon Q5w

which will add a lot of format support as detailed in the OP

CorePlayer is the only way to play h.264 and many others on the Q5W.

So if in theory, with this product i'll be able to play h264 files on the q5w, now the bigget question can the chip in the q5w handle 720p or just standard def would be a big plus for me.

Their answer (they've sended an e-mail to support@corecodec.com) :

Dear Developer,

Can you please assist Michael with the problem below and copy us on the reply so we know that this issue has been resolved? 03/20/2008 01:45 AM

================================================== ==============
Hello,
I own a PMP Cowon IAudio Q5 and I don't see it in the "IntendedDevice" area when I try to purchase the CorePlayer Mobile v1.2.1. The Cowon Q5 has the same CPU/OS than the Clearview Infinity and it runs with Windows CE 5.0 (MIPS).

Any clue ?

Regards,
Michael.

And, another answer was :

Simple... don't select anything!! Also device selection is not enabled on mobihand.com ... so where is this issue? Not Handango... as its not live on Handango.

I don't like to be beta-tester. I'll be glad to be one but not since this player is unable to play FLV files

I took my changes and I made a purchase of this CorePlayer. At first tests it seems to work ok but the video quality is not as good as Cowon default video player. It use direct draw to render the video. I tried with GDI but it skip a lot of frames. I will do more tests in following days.

GDI is slow... they've planned to include DMO codecs for Alchemy CPUs to increase performance.

So this means it works but not as good as the cowon player?

Will I be able to play h264 mkv files?
Will it do 720p?
What about mkv files with ac3 audio?

Sorry for my questions, just curious.
