Thumb Up SD Card disconnect

Has anyone seen where the D2 can't read from the SDHC card intermittently? I have a Transend 8gb SDHC.

yes. i imagine it's the same prob others have reported with the beta firmware. after installing 2.41b, the D2 seemed to accept it fine for a few days. then, after i changed some files on the card, it started to intermittently lose access to the card. i have a theory on what might be buggy with the firmware regarding the sdhc cards, and will report back if/when i completely figure it out. hopefully, cowon will release a stable version to fully support sdhc.

Cursing SDHC woes

I am running WinXP. Thinking of moving to vista or OS X. THe card seemed to work and when i contact COWON they just told me that it works for others. Ha! I spent $$ on the D2 hoping the 8gb would work as they said it would. Aarrrrrgh!! The converting the video is also a hughe pain. Takes more than an hour to convert 1 movie. It took more than 8 hrs to convert just a handful of videos I wanted to carry with me. But that is no real problem since the A3 should play xvid and divx and mpeg4.

1 Hour? I converted Napoleon Dynamite in 20 minutes and Bullet in a bible (1:55) in half an hour. Depends on your computer.

Roll E Conversion

Perhaps. It might have to do with the bit rate I was trying to convert to. I have a very slow computer. I am sure you guys have all fancy high speed computers. It's a few years old. Here are the specs.

Intel 3.4ghz P4 with Hyper threading liquid cooled with Zelmans system
2 GB Ram
3 80 Gb SATA 7200rpm HDD
1 DVD R/RW ATA

I want to upgrade but too much time and $$ right now. You guys have better machines. What kind of rigs are you running on?

I think your computer is fast enough to reach high converting speeds...
May be you have many processes running, that slow it down...
My laptop from 2001 converts videos with the speed of 1.4 compared to the movie length...

hmmmpff [toungue] Are you calling my machine slow I "only" have a 3.2Ghz P4, overclocked with 10% but anyway.

Conversion of movies do takes awhile but that is something that have to accept I guess, it is the same with iriver´s U10 and if you think of it is not that funny that it takes time. The program resaves every single pic in the movie to the correct size for the D2 and doing everything else it has to do to convert a video file (not an expert on that matter no.) But let the computer work during the night (thats what I do.) And also set the CPU usage to the highest setting while converting. If you do not work with your computer meanwhile you are converting it goes quicker to.

Thumb Up Conversion

Huh? I'm not calling any body's computer slow, just mine. It gets hot in my house where my pc is that is why i have a liquid cooled rig. What i really want is a quad core rig. But that will take lots of time and $$. Right now I am still trying to restore my 1970 Datsun 240 Zx. It's old and can't afford a new car right now. Anyway, gang let me know how many of you actually look at full length movies on your D2.
