Yeah just make sure you have v1.81 of the official firmware installed before attempting to install the themed A2_player. If you want to go back you can just throw the A2_player file from the official firmware onto it.

@Hobo
the theme looks great only one thing though; does it have a startup screen? I installed your theme over the Ubuntu one and all the icons changed successfully but the startup screen stayed as Ubuntu!

@meduza
your themes look interesting can't wait to try them. Pity though they're not on the themes site make it easier for ppl to find them.

Hi, I've been trying to create a new theme, and no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get the transparencies right in the .bmp files... Saving a transparent .png file to .bmp has a big black 64x64 square where the transparency used to be... I checked other themes for examples and I got nothing.

Here's an example of how the icons come out in bmp:

Any help for a helpless n00b?

the photo one was the only one i could make transparent. I went into photoshop, opened up the image and rubbed out the white background. I then went to the alpha channel and cleared it from there. THe alpha channel is the black bits. Basically the black bits are the transparent bits. THe white bits on the alpha channel is the actual image.
THen i just saved the image as a bmp and opened it up in iview. You can tell if it worked by seeing the black inside the image.

This is my post on page 4. I think u have the same problem so this is what i did.

First of all, I thank you for your quick reply. It cleared out a lot for me.

It seems that my woes are because of GIMP, which, in the version I'm working with, doesn't have the possibility of saving a .bmp file with an alpha channel. Actually, that feature has just been added a couple of weeks ago!

I'll just download the latest version of GIMP for Linux and start over.

This is really exciting - I didn't realise that people were already making skins like this!! It'd be great if someone could write a simple tutorial on how to make and install skins, I recon eXity would put it on the front page - it's yet another awesome feature which makes the A2 better than other players =)

If anyone could write a tutorial that would be awesome!! Any volunteers?
