The largest SDHC cards that exists are 32 GB, and the J3 supports that without any problems. The J3 only supports micro SDHC cards.
However there are now some SDXC cards that are bigger than 32 GB. 64 GB or more. Using some tricks it might be possible to make some of them work partially with the J3. As far as I know it is only possible with some of the 64 GB cards, since they have the same physical contacts on them as the 32 GB cards. The tricks are: 1. Reformat the card to use fat32. Not possible using Microsoft format utilities. They enforce the standard. 2. Never access the card from a computer while in the J3, use a card reader instead. If you access the card from a computer while inside the J3 the card will become corrupt. Usually it is only resized to 32 GB and you loose some data, and have to reformat the card before you can use the full capacity. So if you wish to use things as they are intended, 32 GB is the max size. But if you can live with the problems then you might be able to use some 64 GB cards. YMMV. The standard for SD cards specifies that no SDHC card can be bigger than 32 GB. However that is not an actual limit of the card tech. More a marketing, licensing and software limit. If you don't want any problems, or take the risc of buying an unusable card, stick with a few 32 GB cards that you swap as needed. Using mp3 media 32 GB should not be a problem. You can only hold 8000 files on the card. (Limit of the J3 system). For flac files and video it might be a problem, then 32 GB might not be enough.

Thanks for you complete answer.
I have bought the exact Card you recommand me. It's not a big deal if it's not working. So even if I have 64Gb, i can't put more than 8000 files. It's not a problem that I need to load mp3 through a card reader, 64Gb seems right to me. |

Hey, I just tried with success the Sandisk 64Gb Card on my J3.
Thanks a lot for your recommendation Adoby. I have maybe one more stupid question, If I can't plug my J3 while the card is in it, do I need to remove the card everytime i need to charge my batteries ? |

I suspect yes. You'll have to remove it, unless you use a dedicated usb charger. If the memory is mounted it may become corrupted. But you could try. The worst that could happen is that you have to reformat the card an add all the music again.
I usually only charge my J3 while I add new or change music. And try to keep the charge between 1/4 and 3/4. I hope that makes the battery wear less. Only when I go on longer trips do I charge it fully. Charging when the battery already is full may cause you to over charge the battery. Bad for long battery life. Also a dedicated usb charger may charge with a higher amperage, which is not good for long battery life, even if it charges faster.
