Default Jetaudio for android

Saw that jetaudio for android has been released. Does this kill the Cowon product line? Because from the look of it, it has all the jet effects including BBE. Feeling stupid to have bought an android mp3 player like the z2 now.

While it has a software implementation of BBE, it does not substitute for having a dedicated BBE chip (which I'm pretty sure the cowon players do). While it may be able to simulate BBE, it's definitely going to add load to the processor of an Android.

I also imagine that a player with hardware BBE, and software on top of it might not sound that great. I am also betting it will kill the crap out of battery life to use. I personally don't use BBE all that often, and it isn't the reason I bought a cowon.

It's the wolfson chips that make the cowon players sound awesome, and their generally better battery life that makes them appealing.

Does anyone know which Wolfson chip the z2 uses? I know the d3 used the Wolfson WM8960 chip.

I don't suppose anyone can tell from the spec for the following 2 wolfson chips which is better?

1st link is the D3 (and presumably Z2) wolfson.
2nd link is the Samsung galaxy S3's wolfson.

The J3 uses a WM8960G, and the Z2 is still an unknown factor (I can't find anywhere that lists which chip it uses or one that has been opened up yet). In fact, I can't even find any confirmation that the Z2 even uses a wolfson, FWIW.

^Thanks for the reminder about the J3 chip. So Cowon used the same one in J3 and D3. I wonder if the S9 used the WM8960G model too or if they went with a better spec one when upgrading from S9 to J3. I guess we'll need to wait till someone opens up the Z2 to see which DAC/Codec chip it uses.

I was thinking the same thing a couple days ago of if I should just go with a normal mp3 player like the Samsung Galaxy Player line and just use the jetaudio app. I'm guessing Cowon thought others would think the same thing as now the jetaudio app has been updated with the BBE effects REMOVED. With my Android tablet (Asus Transformer Prime), the jetaudio app is now worthless after the update - I now have to revert back to poweramp (which sounded alright). I also now only have one choice, the cowon Z2, of enjoying Cowon's excellent audio capabilities with android (D3 doesn't count and was a test device for Cowon) since the app side of jetaudio is crap now. Not that I regret it, I really love the Cowon side of life and I'm currently planning on getting the z2 32gb model sometime before the end of the month.
