May I know which "zip" file are you referring to? I'm also trying to root my Z2, however I'm having trouble with the ADB, it doesn't show my Z2 on the device list when I use the "adb devices" command. I've modified the "android_winusb.inf" and "adb_usb.ini" with the Cowon Z2 entry provided by Gungr. I can see an "Android Composite Interface" when I plug in the Z2, but the ADB can't see the device. |

Please follow the instructions here - http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/How...c_Instructions Look for the one under Windows, where it talks about using the zip file and not .exe
Once you copy the android_winusb.inf file (as described), modify this file as Gungr has mentioned in his steps, and then roottt

Just a little note, I had to run the SuperOneClick again after updating the firmware to 1.25.

I just got the Z2 yesterday, but I updated the firmware to 1.25 before I started the rooting process. Does that make a difference? So far I've had no luck getting the Z2 to show up in "adb devices".
Gungr's edit of android_winusb.inf didn't work for me. My hardware ID is 1102 so I just change that. After connecting for the first time, is Windows supposed to install the Z2 using the the "android_winusb.inf" automatically? For me, it simply installed as a mass storage device. I went into Device Manager and right-clicked the Z2 under Universal Serial Bus controllers and tried to manually install by choosing update driver. I browse to android_winusb.inf and it gives me "Android ADB Interface". I click next and it says it installed successfully. Under the root of my device manager I see Android Phone with Android ADB Interface underneath. I check adb devices in command line, nothing. If I change &MI_01 in android_winusb.inf to &REV_0226 to match my hardware id, I get 2 options when trying to update the device driver, Android ADB Interface and Android Composite ADB Interface. I tried the latter and it still won't work. ![]() I made sure both debugging and USB storage is turned on. I also created the adb_usb.ini file. I've tried this on 2 computers, one Vista and the other XP. Am I doing something wrong here? Gungr, Kizu, can you help? I really wanna get some apps on this thing. Should I downgrade the firmware back to 1.20 or is that gonna brick the Z2? |

Hi guys,
I found this page in which it seems to have instructions to gain root privileges. I don't have time to investigate it and I don't know if the same has been commented before in this threat (sorry), but possibly some of the gurus of the forum wants to play a little bit and give us its impressions. I hope it's useful for you: http://translate.google.es/translate...ast%3D34784535 |

Try reinstalling the app. You may need to get hold of the google play apk.

Sorry for the stupid question, but what does "rooting" mean? I am new to all this android stuff.

how affects it to cowon regular updates? Can I upgrade to the latest version of the cowon firmware without losing root?

Whenever you update to the latest version, you will be unroot. So you have to apply the same procedure to root the device again.
