Maybe it's to replace the V5. It's the same size. I think Cowon is committed to designing more Android PMPs now. Isn't that a good thing?

The A5 uses the same hardware as the Z2.

40h music / 10h video playback. Nice.
Apart from that, I think it's worse (for my needs at least)... the design is too chunky, the screen is only LCD and the resolution is the same as the Z2's... a higher pixel density would have been better since this player is more suited for videos than the Z2 due to its 4.8" screen... for comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note has a 5.3" screen. In that aspect the A5 is actually better than the Galaxy Note because that smartphone is way too large and is thus not very portable...

sounds quite nice.
from the look i'd say it's a new d2/c2. looks slightly better as the Z2. do i see it right that they moved the micro-sd slot on the outlide? or is it an opening for the micro? there is a little opening in the front horizontal side. i wonder how the price will be. it sounds way more appealing than the Z2. |

surely it makes more sense to do proper market research and seek community views before producing two near identical objects, both of which have annoying aspects (4.7' is too big for a practical pmp and 20hrs is not enough battery)
and then missing the option of having the 40hr battery on the smaller more practical screen (which im guessing would be nearer the 50 hours of the j3) with the smaller screen of the z2 which would bring the buyers in and get most people looking to replace the existing devices with what could have been an updated j3+ wifi + android+ great battery life. they've lost the plot bigtime, not to mention huge sales options >< almost laughable. ive been thinking about the z2 + battery mod as it seems a perfect solution (although expensive), but i cant risk modding it and then having the usual cowon device failures, nor would i wait a year or more using 20hrs runtime for it to pass stability testing and the guarantee expiring cos something much better will be out by then. if the z2 had the 50-100 hour battery i most likely would have put real effort into saving the cash for it, with 20 hours it holds no interest whatsoever.

I wonder why they tried to add different Clocks together (cpu/gpu/"vpu" dsp )...Maybe a misleading argument for selling.
64GB, decent battery life...but it seems bulky ![]() Price is also unsurprising; from 299,000 to 399,000 KRW http://board.cowon.com/zeroboard/zbo...id=A01&no=1508 Last edited by mishaan; 02-27-2012 at 14:44.. |

It's a Telechips processor with a Cortex A8 CPU, a Mali GPU and a VPU... Cowon just bought that processor, but they didn't manufacture it.
I don't see why this is misleading or anything, I think it sounds somewhat nice that a device consists of a CPU, a GPU and a VPU. (VPU means "Video Processing Unit" BTW)

And I described in my news post why the A5 is better than the Z2 for people who want to watch a lot videos on-the go.
