Default My D2 suddenly wont play any new FLAC files that I send to it.

My Cowon D2 has suddenly stopped being able to play FLAC files that I send to it. It still plays all FLAC files that are already on the player but it will not play any new FLAC files that I send to it. The folder will show up in the player but when I try and play the file it wont play. I have checked that there is nothing wrong with the way my computer is ripping the Cd's but they play fine on the laptop. Also I have now discovered that if I change the file extension name to ‘.fla’ from ‘.flac’ then the D2 will play the files fine ...but is that really the answer? That would mean a lot of work changing the file extension on every single individual track! Also if I do this I am worried that I am creating further headache for myself at some point in the future if I change to a different player. Will all my .fla files then not be recognised by other players as Flac and I will end up having to do the whole process again but in reverse? Can anyone help?? Much appreciated. Mark

As an after thought, I had the browser on mylaptop updated recently and the problem seems to have started since then ...but not sure if this would be related or not.
(Also, its D2 not D2+ and with firmware 2.59)
