About 2 years ago, I found my 1Gb iAudio U3 in the snow, it powers on and operates but there was no sound
. I loved that mp3 player, great for going through tracks, sounded good, and it was a LINE-IN RECORDER!!!! That was one of it's most useful features! but for the past 2 years or so I've been without a good MP3 PlayerI got a D2+ for Christmas, I've had my eye on the D2 for quite a while. And I was ecstatic. It sounds AMAZING and can really fill my DJ cans, the touch screen interface isn't as good as I had hoped but the ability to jump to a position within a track is so nice (I only hated the U3 for listening to 30min+ mixes). BUT, I also got 2 SD cards for Xmass, a 16Gb & a 4Gb. I loaded up the big card with 12 Gb of MP3s (mostly Vinyl ripped EPs @ ~320Kbps + art and .nfo), it took forever! (I'm sticking with the SD card reader from now on) The player gave me a little trouble initially, but eventually got going. I like the fact that you have both bookmarks and a dynamic playlist. Then the problems got bad, it takes like 3min to start up, always scanning and creating the DB. The file system is often skewed up where it has the number of items correct but they all have the same name and the player crashes! People here suggested RockBox, but in the FAQ it says that it might not work, I tried FW 2.02 and I think my player is too new to run RB ![]() Anyways I'm starting to get frustrated with it! And I'm contemplating returning the D2+ and getting a iAudio 7 (wouldn't need the recording cable...) and a old G5 iPod for rockbox, cause it looks awesome. I really like the this MP3 player, but its just giving me too much grief... Any input would be great. -AdB3 |

i got my D2+ 2 weeks ago and i had the exact same problem(with the same names and long updating etc.). at first, i thought that it was because i loaded the player with many songs(approximately 4GB) at once(i read somewhere that it may cause long opening problems with the player like you're having). after that i loaded my albums in small batches and started up the player after each connection to my PC. now it doesn't update the database everytime i start the player.
for the same name problem, even the folders and files have the same random name right? because that was the case with me. now this may sound irrelevant but here is how i got this problem solved: when i was loading the player with small batches of albums and starting it up afterwards, after one point this problem occured. when i tried to load album by album(even smaller batches), the problem occured after one certain album. i thought that it was an old ID3 tag problem. so i updated the tag of this certain album to ID3tagv2 and loaded it again but the problem didn't go away. so i just don't have this one album and my player works just perfectly. hope the input helps |

Guys - I think you have the database corruption issue that all of us have had at some time. It's something to do with how you load up the tracks - most recommend loading in batches and turning on periodically to update the database - it seems to freak out if you try to load up too many gigs at once. There are threads on here which will help you with this issue, as well as any problems you may encounter through tag anomalies. There are solutions to all of your issues within this forum - I would seriously advise you to stick with it and work through the issues until your d2 is happy. You won't get a better mp3 player at this time. |
