the S9 automatically adds the 1-2 second gap in between tracks, just like all other pmp's that are unable to play music correctly

The 2.31b update reduced the gap to a fraction of a second on MP3s, but hasn't gotten rid of it completely. They still play, but even that tiny gap can break the gracious flow of a concert album. I re-ripped to FLAC the few I have just for that reason.

According to my own experience, this gapless on FLAC v.1.2.1 at compression level above 2 does not work while screen is turned off.

Since you guys mention FLAC, how would I go about to rip my CDs into FLAC using EAC (if possible)?

Yes, it possible. You can rip your CD's into FLAC with using EAC, but it must be installed FLAC codec for it.

Great, going to find the compiled FLAC download and install guide. I assume the same is true for Ogg Vorbis?

Here, I use J. River Media Center to realize this task. Too easy

hi all!

Interresting, it should not fail: My S9 is full of flac, which were all made with latest EAC (v0.99 prebeta 5) at compression ratio level 8.

Gapless is always here, regardless the state of the screen.
