From D2Leak: please do not censor in any way

Alright, I have a few moments now, I will explain things a little more; you guys aren't really technically or emotionally equipped for "zero day" firmware, huh? ; ) Well you should at least take the time to read this entire post, I took the time to write it, and this is not my profession, hobby, or pleasure. (In fact, it's a pain in the ass).

The firmware is legit, and originated from cowon; it was originally sent by a tech center rep. If you don't have the tech savvy to get this running, (I'm sure SOMEONE here does!), then you will simply have to take a stranger's word on it, (and hope a doniago doesn't delete the data before someone can make use of it).

It does run on the D2, it runs on mine. However, you guys are taking a very heavy handed approach. This is not a bundled tutorial script for mass consumption, it's the raw data...and simply put, this raw data is not meant for a D2.

Cowon does not want to make it simple for this to run on a D2, it negates the entire D2+ product line. Many of you fail to grasp this.

It really is telling that you would assume first that someone went to great lengths to create an elaborate hoax...instead of first questioning your own technical abilities. Hey maybe you're right, maybe people that hang around forums also get their rocks off on spending hours to waste others' time. I don't hang around forums, and for me, the time spent on this post is waste enough.

Alright, without further digression, I will provide a bit more clarity:

1) The man from Chile is mostly right; good work Detective DaremoS. There is a special firmware exe used for loading the D2+, (this has been known for some time, guys...I figured you would assume this!). As I understand it, there is data, or some kind of data manipulation routines, that are contained in the firmware updater exe and are not contained in the zip.

2) The exe loader has been publically available for some time. The firmware is now provided in this thread.

3) You now have all the pieces, this is gold if you can implement it. Think of it as a puzzle, for everyone to work together on.

4) An acquaintance originally showed me all this, and got it running on my d2. For all you "doubting doniagos", I will take another minute of my time to explain why he did not post here himself:

a) he doesnt speak english very well
b) he is far more mercantile than altruistic
c) he's actually really a misanthrope and doesn't give a shit about enriching people like doniago with the fruits of his labor
d) it's not surprising at all: people that generally have the "zero day" stuff aren't interested in sharing, and they certainly aren't going to take the time to program easy to use scripts so a kiddie can press one button and make it work

5) At my request, he gave me permission to post the .zip in this forum, which isn't read by most Koreans.

6) In case you haven't figured it out yet, a debugger was used on the .exe firmware loader. A d2+ was utilized, as was a hex editor.

7) for obvious reasons, I am not possessing or distributing a reverse engineered firmware loader or patch. Especially on this board!

8) I am not advocoating that you reverse engineer any cowon intellectual property or copyright protection mechanisms. In fact, I was hoping that someone could get it running using a NEW program, or combining elements of the old firmware code, which would be considerably more kosher...someone here can actually program can't they?

9) My "tone" and lack of explanation in the post was for the following reason:
I don't have to waste time with explanations-- I have the goods, that should speak for itself.

I gave you all the goods, but you didn't realize what you had. Instead, the "iron mod" was about to erase it from the forum.

Okay, maybe I posted in the wrong place, and made one comment too many towards doniago's mother...I recognize that this isn't a forum devoted to programming. It's a fansite for people that really like their D2. I posted here because I thought this would be the place it would be most appreciated (the average programmer doesnt give a damn about making d2+ fw work with d2).

I'll tell you this: someone here has probably already downloaded the fw, debugged and patched the exe, and is quietly smiling to himself with his new d2+ "upgrading" website business idea.

I was hoping to undercut that sort of nonsense by giving the public a head start. I guess the "public" is too bound by invented little forum rules and suspicious to take advantage of what they've got. And by public, I mean you and your mother, doniago.

[c'mon stop kiddin yourself, this isn't a scholarly journal...take a joke, doniago]

So here's what I suggest:
All you fans that want the D2+ running on the D2, and want it public:
work together to make it work. Change the title from "unverified" to "programmers needed".

Obviously it takes a little bit of trust to spend the time working on these mysterious files. But c'mon, how did you expect the firmware would get to you? Bundled with a bow and script kiddie friendly all-in-one gui? Or perhaps handed out as a free upgrade by Cowon, yknow...so you don't have to buy the D2+. Hahahah....I've already gone far above and beyond what most zeroday h4x0r releases document...I'm not going to spoonfeed anything more, or go to any further lengths to prove the veracity of these statements.

EDIT: Cheers guys, thanks for all the positive PM's, however, you should report your progress in the new programming thread so that everyone can see. Also, word is that the Russians are circulating something clever, something also popped up in the russian language site I guess...so there are others that are successful.

Edit: i see, you want us users to try and create this on our own or have our users who are into programming try to make this work. interesting... but i feel why the Mods delete this. this could be considered illegal.

Dude, if you didn't want us to think it was a hoax you could have provided a direct link in your earlier threads. As was requested when you received a Warning. Instead, you essentially recreated your original post, except went off on how the mods were persecuting you. Not helpful.

You also could have communicated with the staff directly to explain what you were aiming for. You opted not to.

Your post above frankly shows a crap attitude towards your fellow board members and the staff who are just doing their jobs. Please show more respect for everyone in the future.

Given your current track record, I _urge_ you to carefully consider the tone of your future posts. I'm letting your attitude slide this time as a show of good faith, but in general that kind of talk would fall under Trolling.

i wasn't one of the users who really... wanted the FW on the D2. i'm no programmer so i can't help out in this project. i do want to thank you for posting these Files and for giving us the D2+ Theme or whoever uploaded it here on the Forums.

Ok, listen hear. You may, rather probably, think I'm just another a-hole, and you're probably right. But what fun do you honestly get out of annoying the hell out of everyone? Do you honestly think that you are a better person because you have a friend who has a moderate level of programming knowlege? If I were you, I'd find a life, and then buy it because a life where the only way to fulfill yourself is to annoy fellow human beings is, imo, not exactly a good one.
