my cowon is dead :( may be fixable?

I cowon A2 recently just stopped working. When I plugged in the computer it is recognized but won't be seen in explorer - It just hangs.

The funny thing is that when I let it sit after trying that for a day or so. I'm able to turn it on as normal and listen to music. But if I try to connect it to the computer, disconnect it and then try to turn it on It just hangs at "File Scanning" for about 1 min and then keeps going on to the main screen -- effectively blocking me from putting any new stuff.

I was suspecting this could this be my Hard drive maybe? I don't mind going in there and replacing stuff now that it's unusable. (Hell I could do with a 10GB hdd - I don't have much content at a time)

I would love any comments at all

My problem was the blue welcome screen would come on then it would shut down . Someone on here told me in was the loose HDD cable , funny thing was it sat on my stereo for a week , before being used ,so dont know how it happed , maybe I dropped it in between.
Any way I am going to open mine up , as suppport doesnt exist for it in the UK.
might need a 0.9-1mm scredriber
