hey guys, i just bought an x5, it should be arriving soon. my question is, how important is a case? i have a rio karma (plastic case) without a protective case and the paint wore out pretty badly, the x5 is made out of metal so im hoping i wont have the paint problem. i do have screen protectors so i think the screen should be safe. I treat my gadgets very careful, the reason why my karma's paint wore out is because i put my mp3 player in my pocket and walk so i guess the friction did it, which i will be doing with my x5 too. Do you guys think i should buy a case, the reasons i dont like cases are:
-They make the player look ugly, imo of course
-They make it bigger (thicker) which is a problem when you put it in your pocket
-A lot of them make using the player much more complicated (no easy access to the button, etc)

thanks for your help

I own the official Cowon leather case. It's not such a bad case - its only real weaknesses are 1) there's no plastic screen protector (however, I use one of the plastic protectors that came with the player and it works fine), and 2) you can't charge or sync the unit without removing the case.

You can easily cut out part of the case at the bottom for use with the subpack. I put a piece of wood into the case against the bottom and used a 1/4" chisel and hammer to tap out an access port.

I just bought an X5L, and I got the Cowon leather (or fake leather) case. It works well enough for sitting on my desk at work, and feels nicer than a silicone case, but I like to have something a bit more sturdy for transporting hither and yon. STM in Australia makes a nice hard-sided case for the iPod called the "iPod Cocoon"--I have a small one for my iPod Mini and I love it--but the X5L looks like it's a bit too thick to fit in the standard iPod size.

Solution? I found a Pelican 1010 case at Fry's that fits the X5L (in the leather case) just about perfectly (note: it's the standard 1010, not the i1010 they sell specifically for the iPod--the X5L doesn't fit in that one). Dustproof and watertight too. Now I can toss it in my work bag in the morning without worrying about it. It doesn't leave any space for accessories, but there are larger models available that would. If you're looking for a sturdy, hard-sided case for packing or commuting, I highly recommend it.

Hi
You can find out all informations you need via email - we speak german, english and a little spanish. And for payment we provide paypal and moneybookers - so no problem with pounds / euro at all!
At least - if you dont have any ebay-account try www.sd-handel.de and you find the same products (its also only in german for the moment - sorry about that)
