It says a lot when the iPod has a critical feature, and other players don't, because they're the last to get anything.
I've heard people say with MP3s the cowon is "almost" gapless. That's like being "almost" pregnant. It's even worse with vorbis files where it should be better because that's a natively gapless format. I love video on it, it's far from a novelty and is great to watch when the professor is telling some elongated off topic story, or on the bus, but eventually other players will do that too, and the A2's horrible music/video scanning(how many times have you either gotten it to stop playing, go to the next track, or the previous track when scanning quickly for a certain part of a song), and general lag from hitting back to when it actually goes back won't be acceptble anymore. |

The ipod is gapless because of iTunes. If Cowon could do the same with Jet Audio then the A2 might have gapless.
Note that the ipod isn't "True Gapless". You have to convert your music to the Apple codec (i think) and iTunes will make it gapless.

) You don't have to convert your music at all, and itunes doesn't alter the files in any way, there's no id3tag or so that's changes through that. Simply put your (preferably) LAME-encoded mp3's (though songs encoded through itunes in mp3 work as well), AAC or whatever codec on the player and you're good to go.

Honestly people, any major feature (e.g. gapless playback) that is crying out on this player isn't going to happen. The last firmware update attests to this fact. The A2 has reached market maturity, Cowon is obviously going to be focusing their attention on upcoming products. Sad, I know, but that's how they will get you to buy the A3...

gapless playback would relly be cool but it is highly unprobable we'll get it in the future for our A2.
scanning for a particular part of a music or video is better with the click wheel but i haven't faced many problems. they are more often with mpeg files and most of the stuff i have are avis with xvid and mp3 in them....

Give it a little time. With this new Linux bootloader, it may be only a matter of time before we manage to port some software to the A2, and possibly even gapless. Lord knows that would be one of my priorities! Heheh! First things first, though, we have to test out the bootloader. Give it some time, but don't expect it soon, or from Cowon themselves.

The Cowon A2 is a VERY popular PMP. I can see people customizing the firmware themselves next year, adding whatever they like.
