Since about a week I've got an Invisible Shield on my X5; I didn't apply it perfectly, so there are some small specks under it, but it's barely noticeable and the shield is truly invisible under most circumstances.
On this forum, there have been some remarks about the Invisible Shield, but there wasn't one thread about it, so that's why I started this one. You may share your experiences etc here. At least it is a sort of 'promotion thread', as I find it really useful, and I know other members who like it as well. With the Invisible Shield, you don't need a case for your X5; the body itself is pretty scratch-resistant, and if you protect your screen you won't have to worry when you put your X5 in a bag (with sharp things etc in it). You can order it here: http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/IADX5.html Here are some demo videos about how scratch-resistant the material is: http://www.shieldzone.com/movie/index.html Here is an installation video: http://www.shieldzone.com/movie/install.html; Textual instructions are available here: http://www.shieldzone.com/app_instructions/index.html Here are other threads on which something was said about the Invisible Shield: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showth...visible+Shield (BobtheNuke was not happy with his Invisible Shield, see post #15). http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showth...visible+Shield (ExperimentX21 applied his one incorrectly... Zeus's Uncle gives some excellent instructions on applying it in post #6, although the Invisible Shield comes with a short manual itself; see also the links posted above) http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpo...64&postcount=2 (Zeus's Uncle says "I don't use any case, and throw my x5 in my bag everyday with my keys, cell, wallet, etc. I just use an invisible shield screen protector, cheap & does the job." here; he says that in almost every thread about cases and such )There are some other threads on which the Invisible Shield is mentioned, but these are the most important ones. |

Second Shield: I got it in about 4 days ago and applied it correctly this time. However, there are some teensy tiny specs that got trapped under it that are hardly visible. Also, I forgot to smooth out a rather large bubble, it's all the way to the right side of the unit on that 'Color sound' thing, so I don't care.
I might also like to note that I ordered my Noreve case which also came in, it covers the big bubble and fits my unit nicely.

Good idea Frank! So people don't have to click to find the steps I used to apply it I'll paste them in here.
1. Get a small bowl and put just a couple drops of soap in it (hand soap or dish soap don't remember) 2. Fill the bowl up with water from the sink. 3. Turn off & locked my x5, got the screen protector out, got a lint free towel, got out a credit card, and put those with the bowl on the counter where I had some free room. 4. Dipped my pointer finger, middle finger and thumb into the bowl, rubbed them together letting the excess drop back into the bowl, and wet both sides of the invisible shield. 5. Separated the invisible shield from the sheet it came on, repeated step 4 (wet both sides of the shield). I didn't get it excessively wet. 6. Laid the screen protector on x5's screen trying to match up two corners above the joystick. 7. Took the credit card and squeegied out the excess water & any air bubbles from joystick side to headphone jack side with the towel there to catch any excess water (wasn't much there). 8. Used my two pointer fingers to position the screen protector in its final position. 9. Let it sit for a day (okay, I turned it on after a few hours because I'm just a curious kind of guy, but just to see what it looked like then put it back down, you'll see it looks kind of cloudy at that time, but after a day it clears up). Oh, and, I don't use any case, and throw my x5 in my bag everyday with my keys, cell, wallet, etc. I just use an invisible shield screen protector, cheap & does the job. ![]()

Has anyone had luck in getting an answer about the possibility of a full cover from the Invisble Shield people?
Maybe if enough people request one they might offer it. I have one on my phone and it is awesome. |

Anyway, I think a full cover is just pointless; the X5 itself is pretty scratch-resistant, so I don't think a shield is necessary. |

Could you post a picture of it on? I just ordered one and was wondering if it affected the screen quality in any way. More so I'm afraid of applying it wrong.

Don't be scurred, it's EZ. If you mess up while doing it, just peel it off, redampen, and lay it down, squegy and center again. You can notice it's there if you angle the x5 for a reflection, or look real close at the edges; but when you are looking down on the screen you'll forget it's there. One thing that I really love about it, when something falls on the screen I'm not searching for a microfiber cloth to clean the screen, I just swipe my thumb across to clean it, good enough.

Indeed; don't worry. Just make sure no hairs etc are under the shield when you applied it; if you still notice some, it's easy to reapply it (in fact, I applied it thrice, in the way Zeus's Uncle explained; only don't wait too long; you can't reapply it forever).

Well I got it in a week ago, applied it without any problems. I'm very happy with the invisible shield and no longer find much use for the misticaudio case I got a few months ago.

^No offense, but if you're going to reopen a thread after almost a month, more substantive content would be appreciated.
Thanks.
