Default Mistic Audio or Noreve?

Anyone have experience with one or both of these cases? Which should I choose? They look identical...anyone speak on the differences?

I have a mistic audio case, and it doesn't fit quite right on the x5, I think the L version is better, but I also got it a long time ago, so it might be better now. Also, the belt clip is a joke, it pops out on its own constantly.

I have the noreve and it is nice smooth leather with a soft inside that snuggly fits the X5L. I've had it for 5 months now and it still looks like new.
The only downside maybe that the subpack isn't entirely secure when plugged in. It still plugs in and holds there but a simple jarring of it may set it loose. It takes no time to pull the X5L out of the case so that you can plug the subpack in without the worry of it coming out.
The quality of construction is worth the extra price alone.

I had a zcover for my ipod and I really didn't like it. I'd rather have a case you don't have to wrestle with to get off.

I never had the urge to take off the zCover, the player is fine to operate inside of it...

(And on the clear zCover you don't see the dust as much as on other colors.)

Does it plug into the cradle with the case on? How 'bout the sub pack?

Works fine with the subpack - I don't have the cradle, so I don't know about that.

I posted a review and pictures of my Noreve case in the X5 Case Thread, subject line:
Noreve case review & pictures

I'm very pleased with the Noreve case. It's a perfect fit. I have the X5, not the X5L, so I can't speak for that one. I too was worried about the subpack not being plugged in as tightly as when the player isn't in its case, but so far I've had no problems with either charging or connecting to my computer using the subpack with the case. I'm just careful not to jostle it.

Someone mentioned the belt clip on the MisticAudio case popping out. The Noreve belt clip has a positive locking mechanism that locks the clip onto the nut that screws into the case. You have to depress it to release the player from the clip. I haven't used the belt clip yet, but it seems very secure. As I mentioned in the review, I would put a little LockTite on the nut that screws into the case. If the clip has a weak point, that's it.

I don't have a cradle, so I don't know if it will work with the case.

Another thing I like about the Noreve case is that the joystick is recessed below the top flap of the case. After what I've read in this forum about joystick problems, the protection afforded is an added plus.

I ordered the Noreve case over the MisticAudio case because in the pictures the MisticAudio looked a little tacky with the visible stitching. I know it's hard to tell from pictures, but I was very happy with the appearance of the Noreve case. It's very well made and has an elegant look and feel.

Default And another thing

I just looked at pictures of the MisticAudio case again. It looks like it just has a flap opening at the top. Can anyone who has the case confirm this?

The Noreve case opens up so that you can expose the front of the player. That way you can watch videos without looking through the screen protector.

Could you tell me please, does the Noreve case recesse the joystick enough to where I could put it in my pants pocket(I wear baggy jeans) or coat pocket without the joystick getting moved?

Thanks,
-Dman

Yes, the joystick is completely below the level of the front flap of the case, recessed about 1/8". The hole in the case is big enough that you can get your thumb in there to manipulate it, but it's hard to move it by mistake. I usually put the player in my sweatpants pocket, which should approximate your baggy jeans, and I've never had a problem. I've also put it in a shirt pocket or jacket pocket. No troubles.

I found the Noreve and MisticAudio cases basically identical. Ultimately I preferred a zCover.

The mistic has a flap opening with two buttons. I really like the case but I'm not sure I like the way the clip attaches to the case. It's kinda hard to work with using that screw. They should have used some kind of plastic hook like that on my Garmin and some other cases I've used. I'm going to make my own case for this sucker. I have an invisible shield on it so I really don't need the protective cover. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

The Mistic Audio case has the same belt clip as the Noreve case. Make sure you use locktite on the screw, or that will fall out, but even if you do that, the locking mechanism will eventually wear out and start letting the case pop free. I strongly recomend any other case that has a permanent belt clip, or else bolting a permanent belt clip on.
