Greetings from New Zealand and i love my ancient X5. Was wondering if anybody out there knows how to fix a problem I have with my x5. Its the second time round that Ive had this problem as the first x5 i had was still under warrenty and i got a new one sent. the problem is that the headphone socket seems to move and i get a bit of sound cutting out. the headphones I'm using are AKGs and might be creating a bit more leverage to damage the socket. i want to fix it myself. could it be a problem with the cercuit board?

A very common sproblem with X5s, don't know whether it's a circuit board problem or not - but from what you say, I guess that the extra leverage on the headphone jack has strained a connection. Are you using AKGs with a 1/4" jack, which you are plugging into a 1/8" adapter? If so, that will definitely cause issues. What you might want to consider is a short 1/8" extension lead like this:
![]() Using this you won't be putting much strain at all on the headphone jack. Doesn't fix your current problem, though. If you're confident enough, why not open up the unit and try to see whether a loose connection is to blame?
