Help Reset to Factory Default (2.57)

Hi Guys,

first of all, nice forum here .

Now to my issue: I tried to reset my D2 according to the manual by clicking

Video => Utilities (also tried Settings) => Pictures => Recording => Power Off

and it did not reset to factory default ... anyone got a hint for me? Firmware 2.57

Cheers and Regards
Poly

It works, I just did it.

The database rebuilds and the Country Selection screen come up when you restart the D2.

EDIT: Make sure you backup your system folder or else you will lose all your settings.

Doesnīt the reset button return it to factory defaults. Mind that the files and the firmware stay.

Nope...It just removes all power. More like a circuit breaker than a system reset.

really now? then what's the point of the button? if the D2 is frozen the D2 turns off after 30secs.

Well try it and see what happens.

Also see page 23 of the D2 manual under Troubleshooting, "I can not turn on the player."

I believe you on your word. But that also means there is no way to return to factory defaults. Except by reinstalling the firmware obviously..

The Pictures are not right. That is how the screen looked with the first Firmware.

The manual instructs you to press Video, Settings, Picture and then Record. When Cowon added the Utilities Icon, they moved the Settings Icon to the right which would change the pattern. Hence what is in the manual does not work. You have to use the Utilities Icon instead of the Settings Icon.

See this old post.

The pattern is the important thing. This is the pattern for FW 2.57:

Video > Utilities

Picture > Record

You just highlight the Icons and then turn it off.

It works, I just did it.

The database rebuilds and the Country Selection screen come up when you restart the D2.

EDIT: Make sure you backup your system folder or else you will lose all your settings.

why don't they just add this function into the settings? such a hassle and weird concept of doing this.
