hi i am really confused @ this point it seems like i'll have to buy a PMP within a month coz of some constraints.
So what do you guys think should i buy like should i get an A2 (whose price might drop a lot l8r ) or get an Archos 604 Wi-Fi i don't really know i read a lot of reviews but i'm really confused every PMP offers its own share of Pros and ConsBut i'm really into the A2 for the USB-OTG, awesome battery life and audio/FM/video recording feature. But i like the Wifi in 604 though it is pricey coz i have wifi in my campus. Also i hate the way the Archos people suck money out of you just for the codecs In the same respect which is better overall as in for the primary uses like audio pictures and video. Any other PMP worth it? Last edited by pt1989; 08-07-2007 at 12:22.. |

I have absolutly nothing to say about the Archos 604 - I've never seen one. But I do have one thing to say about WiFi - Nokia 770. Look it up, if that's truly what you're looking for in a player it might suit your needs or maybe complimant your A2 and make up for it's shortcomings. Buying both of them might still be cheaper than buying the 604

If you can wait a month look at the q5, see that thread for info
The a2 is still the best out there. Archos have a bad return rate, if your considering it make sure the place you bought it from is close just in case it has to be returned |

I was taking a closer look at my A2 and my Archos 504. The A2 has vastly superior video and audio. So if that's the deciding criteria, at least vs. the x04 line... the A2 wins hands down.
The x04 has some features that aren't on the A2 (e.g. h.264, vob handling.. via plugins), but there are also many features in the A2 that the x04 doesn't have. Both are good players... but its quality that matters, both on-screen and product reliability, then go for the A2. I own ONE Archos device... I have three A2's in our household now. |

i think i can wait upto last week of september. Can i get an a3 by then
? the cowon supports says it should come out earlier means it WON'T [toungue] yeah even i'm more tempted towards the A2. Even though it is slated for an update it beats the competition hands down. The A3 might be something from techno-heaven The battery,OTG video recording and output just sets the A2 apart now so what can we expect of the A3. The Q5 exceeds the budget and moreover it uses Windows (sorry i'd like to ban that if only all the worlds programs weren't written for it )Do y'all expect a WiFi for A3 and what is the best rate for A3 (can it b under $350 because people bought the A2 for something like $450 so that's too much) The WiFi is becoming increasingly important because i've almost had my wifi @ home and on campus Last edited by pt1989; 08-11-2007 at 02:15.. |

I am having the same dilemma, and now even more, now the music playback on the A2 will go for 18 hours and on the A3 for only 10 hours!! And with a 5 hours recharge that isn't reasonable! But I like the A3's user interface (icons) much more than the A2. It's more stylish.
I ordered a A2 (20gb) for 219 euros and heard of the A3 to arrive soon, so I switched to preordering A3. (they gave me a preorder price of 289 euros for the 20gb model, but hey there won't be a 20gb version!) Main reason why I will wait for A3 is because I don't want to buy a device (which is already on the market for 2 years) if an updated version arrives within weeks. But now we know of the 10 hours of playtime, which is really bad, I am thinking of getting back to A2... The battery time probably has to do with the better high reso screen and faster processor. So please upgrade the battery!! Last edited by stefh; 09-01-2007 at 09:20.. |

k fine A2 is the way to go now i won't buy A3 coz it won't be under 350 USD for another 12-14 months for now. Also the A3 turned out to be not-so-good with it's poor battery life the reason i'd like to buy a Cowon product. Maybe more firmware enhancements can optimize battery life, also i guess u can skin the A2 so the icons shudnt b much of problem anyways

FYI:
As of right now, the A2 is $276 plus $6 shipping at Newegg.com. Until very recently, it had been $14 more. I decided that the price was right, and should be getting my A2 next week. I just checked, and the A2 is -- coincidentally -- $282 with free shipping at Amazon. Perhaps we're starting to see another round of price reductions. Either way, I'm happy with the deal I just got. |

is your wifi at school unsecured? at my school we can only access the wifi through a wireless odyssey client. if your's is something similar i doubt you can access it with the 604 anyway. maybe look into a pocket pc or internet tablet or depending on your needs forget the A2/3 and another device and just get a laptop to carry around for internet and media.

Ya from what I hear on other forums the opera browser is kinda slow even with a fast connection on the 604 better off buying a laptop for true internet browsing. I dont own 1 but looked into buying one, a lot of unhappy people in there forums over there. I am very satisfied with my a2 got it for $282 newegg, couldnt have made a better choice for video and the other stuff. I also owned a psp and it had a browser with it and it was very slow even on a fast connection, not fun for browsing on a regular basis.

I got tired of waiting for the A3 and ordered an A2 yesterday from newegg.com. A2 has just what I need and it is a proven product with great reviews. I considered an Archos 605 but the A2 is still a better value, for me at least.

Ok, I received my A2 yesterday afternoon. All i can say is "wow!" Great build quality, great sound, and easy to use. i don't mind the joystick because I owned an X5 and was used to it. I love being able to Shuffle by Folder and Sub-Folder again. The D2 needs to get this feature fixed. Overall, I'm happy I finally ordered this after waiting over a year for something better.
BTW, I love the record feature! Easy to record off TV. |
