they are almost as good! different but great. the ce1 has more medium and the sony xb40 got more treble and bass. also ce1 support less bass if you crank up the level too high with some settings that brings out the bass especially with type of songs that has already some big bass. I really like the 2. with the xb40 you got a more precise and less saturate bass under 40hz. the 2 fits well. although the sony are more confortable to me. I always use the smaller tips and the small one from the sony are smaller. you don't feel it as much as the ce1 but for my ears even if it's less confortable i think the ce1 make a better isolation. and the more you got a good isolation the more you will hear the bass part of each songs. so the price range is also different ce1 is 20e and xb40 are 79e. but anyhow they are great for their prices so you wont waste your money whatever you chose.if you have money and if you are really into big bass type of music like dub, dubstep go for the xb40 otherwise maybe save some money and go for the ce1. it also depends if you listen your music really loud or not so loud if you don't crank up too high ce1 does it perfectly
