Cowon used to be adored by audio enthusiasts. Now it looks like almost every single product they've released in the past several years has either been poorly reviewed, or has failed before even being released. The J3 is the last player I remember to get great feedback. What happened?

My S9's screen has been broken for some time now, and every once in a while I'd check this site to see which new Cowon device I would use to replace it, but like I said, they all turn out to be crap.

So my question is this - what player could serve to be an S9 successor for me? Besides the J3 of course. It doesn't matter what brand either. Basically, anything that is on-par with the S9 (OLED screen, DivX video, and Bluetooth are my main concerns, but not obligatory). So far the Sony X-1000 is on my list.

Thanks in advance.[yes]

Dear Iaudiophiles,

I think,Cowon needs a little push (just like Harvey Dent [laugh]),to make GREAT players again.

So write down here, which (Cowon-of course) player do you use ,why do you like it,and what would you improve on/in that. Finally, write down, that what kind of player would you buy?

I we reach the 100th reply,I'll summary the posts, then send them in e-mail,to every known cowon seller, office etc. It"ll be like a little public oppinion poll. [yes] And -if we have a little luck- somebody will see that at her/him office, near the C.E.O.

Let me start.

I use a cowon D2+ (bought 2 months ago) .

I like the detailed sound :jamming:,the overall build quality [thumbsup],and the high spectrum of features [excited].

I would improve the screen to capacitive, and cancel the file limit [thumbdwn].

And I would buy a player,like the old U5,in a bigger/better screen,video function,but with the original interface.:jamming:[rolleyes]

hi,

yesterday morning, my cowon j3 player did not wake up at all (rafio fm alamr wake up mode) liek it did it every day for almost 3 years of good services. And it was fully charged this morning.

i thought it was suddenly full-decharged (happen sometime but very rare), but when i connect it to the computer or alimentation, then nothing happens ! nothing ! not a blink led, not a bruise, no noise, nothing.

so is it dead ?

can i repair it ?
can i recover the music inside ? is it a flashmemory inside ou msata ssd ?

As i own it since almost 3 year, i can tell it waked up at least 1000 times for 3 years, ran about 20minutes each time and been rechearge every 3 weeks so 50 times.

it won't long a long life i think ! never fall, never move, always on my table or desk, never on walk at all. but it dead !

any solution to repair it or recovery the content ?

Thanks for all suggestions, i will need it.

So I got my X9 last week and so far I'm enjoying it (despite a few clunky elements and a slightly unusual UI). The strange thing I've noticed though is that the battery indicator seems to fluctuate every time I turn the device on. It'll go from three-quarters full to half full to a quarter full sometimes during a single use, but then if I turn it off and on again it'll usually go back to three-quarters full. I haven't really even used it very much, and I've heard elsewhere that some people have used if for hours on end without the battery moving at all (I'm only listening to music and navigating through menus, not watching videos).

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if my battery is faulty or if perhaps the battery indicator is just inaccurate. Either way it's a bit frustrating because I don't really know how much of a charge I actually have. Anyway, any info you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Have had my X9 for about a week and I am loving it, except for this file transfer issue.

I had heard it mentioned in another thread, but would like to specifically address it here.

As far as transfer goes, I usually get about 1 MB/s, which is very slow. The other thing that bothers me is it takes an usually long amount of time to delete files from the player. Most players/flash storage would delete files instantly, but the X9 seems to take about a minute or so to delete 100 MB.

Was wondering if everyone is experiencing this and maybe if we could come up with a solution?

Hello everybody, I have a big and serious problem on my Cowon Z2 for several days right now.

Indeed, when I want to go to all applications, I have to slide the touch "All apps" which is situated in below of the screen from the main menu (this is the menu where we have access to all applications downloaded and installed from Google Play), my device displayed me a strange message called write "android.process.acore stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."!

So, after touched the "Force close" button (it's the only one button, there's not the "Report" option), I return automatically in the main menu, I can't access all my apps anymore, I tried everything (settings menu, clear cache, restart/kill all process, reboot my device), it's useless. So, i'm very lost and I don't really know why android.process close itself.

And cherry on the cake : when I consulted android in the application menu from "Settings", I can do nothing with that, I can't clear cache, force close, restart. No options!

But of course, I saw some articles which talks about this problem on the Internet, but there's no clue which allow me to resolve my android.process, it's only for Galaxy S3, HTC (in fact, it's about mobile phone but not for my Z2).

So, can you tell me how can I resolve this serious problem, please ? give me any advice/process/help you have, guys. Thank you in advance!

Hi All,

I have a Sandisk SDXC UHS-1 64GB. I have followed the instructions here to use a USB reader and GUIFormat to prep the card.

Problem is, I cannot get passed the formatting bit. I keep receiving this error:

I don't know what to do at this point. I've tried all the various things I usually do to get around it, like changing ports, closing all apps, restarting the PC. To no avail.

Kindly need someone to tell me what the heck is it that I'm doing wrong. How come everyone is able to format their cards and I'm stuck in this simple step.. [help]

Hi everyone, I just have a big problem in my Z2, I mean : it's about lyrics! Indeed : I noticed that text a song doesn't display on the screen.
Normally, I have to music, then select one song and finally click on the extend button.

And yet, I put lyrics thanks to a great software called mp3tag (for those who doesn't know about this, you can see through the official site just right here : http://www.mp3tag.de/en/).

With this, I select one audio file (for example), single click and select extended
-> I choose new tag and then "UNSYNCEDLYRICS" or "LYRICIST", unfortunately, there's not the "Lyrics" option and I don't really understand why developer not input this feature, especially about song.

So, you have figured out about my problem, just tell me as soon as possible. I'll thank you in advance for your help/advice.
